Initial Situation

The Goal in Stuttgart: Automated Attack Detection in OT

As a drinking water supplier for approximately 3 million people in 250 cities and municipalities in Baden-Württemberg—including Aalen, Ellwangen, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Göppingen, Esslingen, Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, and Ulm—the Landeswasserversorgung Association is part of critical infrastructure.

With the implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in accordance with ISO 27000, the question arose: How can automated attack detection be implemented in OT that is reliable both in daily operations and during audits—without overburdening the operations team?

“Due to its quick installation and intuitive operation, the IRMA® Security Appliance is ideal and provides significant added value for both compliance audits and day-to-day operations.”

The centralized threat level summarizes the security status in a single figure — visible to operations management and auditors.

The integrated B3S Water module supports industry-specific risk analysis in accordance with the DWA/DVGW standard.
