EDGE AIP (MC100)
Edge AIP is the hardware platform (until April 2024: MC100 terminal; from May 2024: TRB140 gateway), including an Edge AIP application for the AIP software product, used for sending SMS and email. The operating system on the Edge AIP (MC100) is OpenWrt, which uses ‘LuCI’ as its web interface. In AIP, the modem (Edge AIP) is configured as the transmission medium.
Quick Guide
General Information
The Edge AIP provides easy access to internet and SMS services via the mobile network. For the start-up, a SIM card of a mobile network operator, activated for packet services (GPRS, UMTS, HSPA or LTE), as well as a sufficiently stable reception is required.
Prerequisites
Please consult your IT department beforehand regarding the use of the Edge AIP device in terms of security criteria and internet access within your network. Use a mobile phone to check whether your SIM card can send SMS and establish an internet connection for email services.
Please follow the instructions step-by-step and configure the settings for the SIM card. An incorrect PIN may lock the SIM card. Have the SUPER PIN/PUK of your SIM card ready for unlocking if needed.
Initial Start-up
1. ANTENNA
Mount the enclosed antenna to the “A1” port of the MC100 terminal/gateway. Check whether there is sufficient network coverage from your mobile network provider on site. Ensure that there is also sufficient reception at the final installation site (e.g., plant, basement, server room).
2. INSERTING THE SIM CARD
Insert your SIM card as shown in the figure on the right until it clicks into place. Slide the SIM card lock towards the center of the card.
3. POWER SUPPLY
The Edge AIP Modem is operated with a supply voltage of 10-30V DC.
Please connect the enclosed external DC power supply with an output voltage of 10-30V DC to the power supply socket “POW” (e.g. 12V > 1.2A or 24V > 600mA).
Please plug the power adapter into the power supply. A green “Power” LED lights up (see transparent bottom shell where the antenna connections are located). After a short initialization phase (approx. 40 seconds), the device is ready for operation.
4. PREPARING THE PC
The computer from which the Edge AIP Modem is to be configured must be assigned an IP address from the range of 192.168.2.2-192.168.2.254.
Connect the Edge AIP Modem to the PC via Ethernet connection (LAN).
Test a PING to the IP 192.168.2.1 of the Edge AIP device. If the PING is successful, start a current browser on your PC.
5. EDGE AIP USER INTERFACE
The web interface of the Edge AIP is used to configure the application and to test the respective settings so that the modem in the AIP can be used as a transmission medium.
Enter the following URL in the browser: https://192.168.2.1:8081/
Confirm the browser note and click on “Erweitert (Advanced)” to continue.
Log in with the user “admin”. The password is the last 8 digits of the IMEI. The IMEI number can be found on the type plate on the transparent side of the device.
With the alternative URL (http://192.168.2.1:8080/) there is only a forwarding to the https address.

Configuration interface
6. SETTING UP THE PIN
Enter the PIN of your SIM card under “Konfiguration (Configuration)” and save the settings. Check the PIN status and reception quality under “Status”.
7. SMS TEST MESSAGE
Send an SMS test message. Only when this can be sent successfully, follow the configuration for the transmission medium in the AIP configurator.
