The Project

The Goal in Kassel: Production Data Collection and Long-term Archiving

Since 2014, acron has been in use as a process data collection and long-term archiving system at the municipal utility KASSELWASSER: In collaboration with integrators from SEGNO, an existing in-house product at KASSELWASSER was replaced.

In this migration project, all process data dating back to 2008 was successfully migrated from the legacy system.

The acron software was selected over alternative solutions because it stood out for its cost scalability, intuitive operation, flexibility, and exceptionally fast processing speed.

Real-time Data From Multiple Sources

The Kassel wastewater plant, serving 340,000 population equivalents, operates a SCADA system for 24/7 process monitoring and control of plant components, as well as its own LIMS (Labor Information Management System) for analyzing water samples. Both systems provide real-time data to acron through direct or import interfaces. Additionally, data from the entire city area, 9 weather stations, 13 pumping stations, 11 stormwater retention basins, and a city lock are made available in real-time via OPC Data Access and import. Using the integrated formula editor, KASSELWASSER creates custom evaluations in calculation rules for reports or data queries.

Since 2019, the web-based information portal JUNE5 has also been in use at KASSELWASSER. Through a secure VPN connection, real-time data from acron from another operation is made available in a safe and simple way in the web browser.

“acron is our central platform for efficient and reliable operational data processing at KASSELWASSER.”

Andreas Studemund, Head of the Automation and Information Technology Unit at KASSELWASSER
